This policy explains what information Discover Old Florida, LLC (“Discover Old Florida,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers both the Discover Old Florida mobile app (iOS and Android) and our website at discoveroldflorida.com. We keep it plain-English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@discoveroldflorida.com.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. You can optionally add a profile photo. We use a secure authentication provider (Supabase) to manage sign-in.
You can post reviews (a rating, optional text, and optional photos) and photos to a partner’s timeline. This content is public — it can appear in the app and on partner pages on this website, alongside your display name. Our team moderates submissions, and we may hide or remove content that breaks our guidelines. You can delete content you’ve posted.
When you check in at a participating venue, the app reads your device’s precise location a single time, at that moment, to confirm you’re actually there. We store a record of that check-in (including the location reading and the points awarded) to run the loyalty program and to prevent abuse. We do not track your location continuously, we do not collect location in the background, and we do not sell location data. The app also shows your position on the map while you have it open; that happens on your device and isn’t stored.
We keep your points balance, check-in history, and reward redemptions so the loyalty program works and so you and participating businesses can see what’s been redeemed.
Push notifications are opt-in. If you allow them, we store a device push token so we can send the alerts you’ve chosen. You control which types you receive (for example event reminders and area news) in the app, and you can turn push off any time in the app or your device settings.
We send transactional emails related to your account and activity (for example sign-in and account messages). If you opt in, we also send an occasional newsletter. We use Brevo to deliver email. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter any time using the link in any newsletter or by emailing us — transactional messages continue as needed to operate your account.
Our website uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and identifiers to help us understand how the site is used (for example which pages are popular). The mobile app does not include any analytics or tracking software.
Like most online services, our servers keep basic technical logs (such as IP address and device or browser type) to operate the service, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited ways:
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Content you post stays until you or we remove it. Check-in and loyalty records are kept while your account is active so the program works. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we need to keep limited records to comply with the law.
You can delete content you’ve posted at any time in the app. To delete your entire account and the personal information associated with it, email us at hello@discoveroldflorida.com from the email address on your account, and we will delete it within 30 days. We are also adding a self-service account-deletion option directly in the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To make a request, email us at hello@discoveroldflorida.com.
Discover Old Florida is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Discover Old Florida, LLC operates in the United States, and your information is processed and stored there.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be reflected here.
