Crumps' Landing waterfront tiki restaurant and dock on the Homosassa River

Field Notes: Crumps’ Landing

Some restaurants feed you. Crumps’ Landing gives you a whole afternoon.

Perched on the Homosassa River at 11210 W. Halls River Road, Crumps’ serves up open water views across the river to the docks and waterfronts of Old Homosassa — the working, wandering riverfront that makes this town what it is. Pull up by car or by boat (the docks are right there), kick off your flip-flops, and settle in.

This is Old Florida tiki done right: shaded outdoor seating under big thatched roofs, a white sand beach lined with Adirondack chairs, live music drifting over the water, and a play area that keeps the kids happy while the grown-ups linger over one more round. It’s family-friendly and boat-friendly — which around here covers just about everyone.

The menu leans hard into fresh, local seafood, and it shows. Locals swear by the Bang Bang Shrimp; the gator bites are the move if you’re feeling adventurous; and the grilled shrimp baskets, crab cakes, and burgers hold down the classics. The bar keeps pace with signature cocktails, a solid draft list, and happy hour specials that pair dangerously well with a river sunset.

Crumps’ has earned its place the hard way, too — it’s weathered fires and hurricanes over the years and come back stronger each time. That kind of staying power isn’t luck. It’s what happens when a place matters to its community.

Know Before You Go

  • Arrive by water: Boat docks make Crumps’ one of the easiest waterfront stops on the river. Tie up, eat up, push off.
  • Timing: Sunset is prime time. Come early on weekends — the live music crowds fill in fast.
  • Bring the crew: Kids’ menu, play area, sandy beach, and room to roam. This is a bring-everybody kind of place.
  • Grab a river seat: The waterfront tables and beach chairs fill first for a reason. Boat traffic, birds, and river life make the best dinner theater in town.

Whether you’re capping off a day of scalloping, breaking up a kayak run, or just chasing a cold drink and a warm breeze, Crumps’ Landing is the kind of stop that turns into the whole afternoon. Nobody’s ever mad about it.
